Led Zeppelin LIVE! starring Heartbreaker's Wide Appeal
|
Here’s what the consumer market and national media are saying about Led Zeppelin LIVE! starring Heartbreaker and the drawing power of
Led Zeppelin’s music:
“Heartbreaker - the immaculate reincarnation of Led Zeppelin. The combined sciences of holography, sensurround, and
DNA-cloning could not have done a closer rendition of the Zep than San Jose’s Heartbreaker. These four very talented
musicians had not only the songs down to a “T”, but the attire, the postures, the stage presence, and even the
facial expressions down to such a high degree of reality that it was almost scary.”
– Steve Olsen, reporting on the Hollister Independence Rally, July 10th 2003 issue of the Pinnacle
“What was once a generational dividing line now works as family entertainment. That’s why Heartbreaker is headlining
at the SummerStart festival. It’s so mainstream now”, says Bryan Byers, SummerStart producer. “That’s evident when
you turn on the TV. There’s an ad for Cadillac with a Led Zeppelin song. You have a built-in audience. Heartbreaker
stood head and shoulders above all of the other tribute bands that we looked at for our festival.”
– Tim Cain reporting on the SummerStart Festival, 2002, Decatur, Illinois
Led Zeppelin Ad Reinvigorates Cadillac Image
“We wanted the Break Through campaign to communicate a unified Cadillac message. The music of Led Zeppelin lends a
consistent message and tone throughout, and also adds an emotional element to all the spots.”
– Kim Kosak, Cadillac’s Director of Advertising and Promotions
Cadillac Makes Connection with New Generation of Car Buyers
“The song’s (‘Rock and Roll’) lyrics, ‘It’s been a long time since I rock and rolled’, are hitting home with
buyers in Cadillac’s target age bracket - 40 to 50 year olds - and also with a younger audience. What was amazing
was how many younger people under 30 are into Zeppelin and Robert Plant.”
– Mark LaNeve, Cadillac’s General Manager
“Cadillac plans to keep on using the Rock and Roll tune for several more years and is talking to the band about
other songs.”
– Joe McCormick, The Detroit News, Autos Insider, August 2002
Robert Plant Visits Cadillac
To celebrate Cadillac's 100th birthday, General Motors threw a birthday bash at their headquarters in Detroit, Michigan.

The illustrious guest of honor was none other than Robert Plant, the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. Plant was clearly excited
as he photographed the fans upon entering the building.
For Cadillac in general, the reaction to their TV campaign featuring Zeppelin's tune 'Rock and Roll' has
been "overwhelmingly positive", said LaNeve. The response to the ads must have come
as good news for Cadillac, because it was the first time Led Zeppelin has agreed to the commercial use of their music
and the fee apparently was very sizeable.

LaNeve added, "What was shocking was how many younger people under 30 are into Zeppelin and Robert Plant - I probably did 20 rock and roll station interviews where 28-year DJs were asking me if I got to meet Jimmy Page (the guitarist) and Plant. And I'm thinking the song came out before you were even born."
Plant's appearance at Cadillac's centennial celebration at their Renaissance Center was a big hit with the company.
"He's a bonus," says LaNeve. "He's been a great ambassador for the brand."
Cadillac plans to keep using the Rock and Roll tune for at least another year and is talking to the band about other songs, some of which have never been released.

Cadillac obviously
recognized the huge, unwavering popularity of Led Zeppelin. Throughout rock-n-roll's
diverse history, Led Zeppelin is the one group that has risen above the rest, and to this
day, remains one of the most influential, inspiring, and popular groups of all time.
In February 1969,
Led Zeppelin released their first album and, in less than two months, this album reached Billboards top ten list.
Since that first release, five of the group's LP's reached number one and every album released has attained platinum
status, with world-wide sales of over 100,000,000 records to date.

Led Zeppelin's Appeal Lives On
Led Zeppelin's 1973 U.S. tour also broke all box
office records throughout the country (many of which had been set by the Beatles), and by 1975, the group's immense
ticket and album sales established them as the most popular rock-n-roll group in the world.

Recently, VH-1 conducted a
nation-wide call-in survey on their program “The List” to find out who their fans thought was the greatest rock-n-roll
band and what was the greatest rock song of all time. The final tally of the votes resulted in Led Zeppelin as being the
2nd best band (just slightly behind the Beatles), and “Stairway to Heaven” being the number 1 rock song of all time.
VH-1’s fans also voted in 3 more Led Zeppelin songs for the show’s top-ten song list.
